December was a busy month for us. It was Costen's first Christmas and New Year's. We flew out to New Orleans to spend Christmas with Alan's family. Costen was great on the plane and even in the car rides throughout LA. We spent our first night in New Orleans and left the following morning for Cottonport, the town Alan grew up in. On the way there, we stopped for some Boudin Balls. It is a ball of stuffing battered and fried, so delicious. We stayed at his Aunt Gayle and Uncle Michael's house for Christmas Eve. They roasted a pig on their fire pit out back and had plenty of other great food. It was great to finally meet his family, they are all so nice and fun to be around. The next morning we went to Baton Rouge. I got to see the LSU campus and where Alan lived while he attending college, Momee's house. It was beautiful and MeMac's side of the family is just as nice. There, we ate shrimp, crab, oysters, gumbo and the best ham ever, while we watched home movies of Mackey's family. It was so cool to see Momee as a young lady and to see her tear up when she so her deceased husband, Ralph when he was young. Plus, Mackey and all of her brothers when they were just wee little children. We headed back to New Orleans that evening. The next day we went and hung around the French Quarter. We stopped at a bar and all had a delicious drink before heading down to Bourbon Street. I even got to check out the infamous Pat O's, home of the Hurricane, before we got kicked out for having an underage person there. Little Costen is already sneaking into bars! That night Dr. Henry and Mackey had the family and some friends over for dinner. It is always a good time, with great food, endless bottles of wine and good company. We wrapped up our last night with more gifts and home videos. We all realized just how lucky we are to have such a great family and friends. Needless to say, we accomplished a lot, but still wish we had a little more time there. It is never fun leaving... the family functions.
This is our favorite pic right now, isn't he handsome!
This is him with Mr. Bully (Uncle Michael)
This is us somewhere downtown, right before we went inside the hotel with the caroseul bar.(Really cool)
Thank you everyone for all of your hospitallity and presents.
